Flaring event at Mossmorran – Statement 1 from ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil Chemical would like to inform the local community that we are currently managing a plant upset at the Fife Ethylene Plant at Mossmorran.

All relevant authorities have been informed and are assisting us in managing the situation. In order to do this we will progress a controlled equipment shutdown from 16.30hrs. on Friday 27th October, 2017. We anticipate that this will result in flaring for approximately 48 hours and we will provide further updates in due course.

Flaring is an essential part of the plant’s safety systems and there is no danger to local communities or employees. We would like to assure you safety and environmental protection are our highest priorities and that we will do all we can to keep flaring to a minimum.

ExxonMobil Chemical personnel are working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
