A community group’s backing calls for an independent inquiry into flaring at the Mossmorran petrochemical plant.
An independent Inquiry into flaring at the Mossmorran petrochemical plant is being backed by the Mossmorran Action Group.
It comes after a formal motion by Fife Council who asked the Scottish Government to commission an independent expert study into the environmental, social and health impacts on the communities surrounding the facility.
However, councillors have since found out that Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Secretary Roseanna Cunningham insisted the Scottish Government was taking the matter seriously, but thinks a study is “premature.”
Chairman of the Mossmorran Action Group James Glen has been telling Kingdom FM News more needs to be done:
ExxonnMobil has indicated its willingness to have “further discussion” about possible compensation to local communities or individuals impacted by flaring.
