Senior Electrical Engineer (Contractor) job with Wood – Auto Republish

Wood, a global leader in consulting, engineering, and project management, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our established engineering and design team on an initial 12 month contract. In this role, you will support a client site based in Mossmorran and the expectation would be for you to be based at site for a minimum of 2 days per week with the rest based at home.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer contractor, you will have the opportunity to execute electrical engineering activities across various project stages, from concept to detailed design. Work scope

• Review design packages for electrical systems and equipment (i.e., Power & Distribution Transformers, motors, generators, high voltage/low voltage switchgear / Motor Control Center (MCC), distribution network, control equipment, power outlets etc.) including drawings, datasheets, detail scope of work, calculations, Bill of Material / Quantity and preliminary cost estimates, Hazardous Area Classification and power System Study
• Prepare the Project Design Basis Document as per the project scope
• Prepare the entire project load lists based on the project scope
• Produce technical reports for the scope of work, and technical specifications for specific electrical equipment
• Manage the electrical activities of engineering, procurement, and eventual construction (EPC) contractors during the Front-End Engineering Development (FEED) and design phase
• Coordinate with Project managers to finalize the Electrical Engineering scope for the entire project / package
• Carry out analysis of major equipment selected in the design package
• Review and respond to technical and site queries
• Experience in project execution in accordance with client’s and worldwide industrial standards
• Monitor and review in coordination with client’s PMT the performance and work quality of the contractor
• Ensure that the design work by contractor is in accordance with client’s design standards, applicable codes/regulations, and acceptable work practices
• Assist the Project Managers and Project Engineers in evaluating Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and Award Recommendation (AR) provided by Contractor and able to perform Procurement support
• Review and evaluate Change Orders to ensure full compliance with standards and that costs are in line with project budget
• Work closely with Engineering Teams during the project to ensure facility integrity in terms of HSE
• Provide technical assurance for electrical discipline deliverables for projects
• Recommend new improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standards
• Good knowledge on Power system automation

Skills / Qualifications

• UK Bachelor’s Degree/HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field
• Strong technical background and expertise as an experienced engineer
• Proficiency in site surveys and data gathering for brownfield projects
• Familiarity with design and assessment methods within the discipline
• Competence in analytical methods and theoretical background for analysis programs
• Understanding of commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of engineering
• Ability to collaborate with other disciplines and meet delivery dates
• Knowledge of quality control requirements and assurance for engineering work
